THE FIRST SYMBOLIC WRITING SYSTEMS IN ANCIENT AFRICA

Image
The first syllabic writing system of Africans was the Thinite script. This writing was used first by Blacks in Nubia, like the Niger-Congo people who migrated out of this region into the rest of Africa. The Thinite script provides many of the signs that are included in later scripts used by Africans. There are fifteen African writing systems that predate English, yet ask around if Africa had writing before colonization and some people are likely to deny that Africa had any writing systems before 1500 AD. Not many people know that there are even African writing systems that predate Latin. Latin is one of the oldest languages in the world and seen as one of the great inventions of the Romans, and a sign of their cultural progress. However, what most people don’t know is that thhere are many African writing systems that pre-date Latin. These people often claim that Europe is civilized as it developed writing before the Africans. However, this is blatantly wrong, as there are nine African ...

NIGERIA EDUCATIONAL PROLIFERATION

Image
In today's Nigeria, we have a proliferation of private schools and universities. Education now is like any other commodity on display in very expensive supermarkets. The kind of fees some of these private schools and Universities charge per Child per student, per session, makes the cost of education all too high. Sound education in our dear country is now the preserve of the children of the rich instead of every Nigeria child, all of whom are the future leaders of this potential great but battered country whose leaders are yet to realize that our great Father has given us this rich and vast country to build and develop for his glory and honour, and our own good. True talents does not for from the rich only, it's evenly distributed to both the poor and the rich.  The intelligent Children of the poor, with the collapse of the public schools to the advantage of the private schools, are now at the receiving end. They have been abandoned, pauperized and frustrated by a government th...

IF NIGERIA IS TO BE TRULY GREAT

Image
The consequence of our leaders' negative action is that the country has been moving in a vicious circle of poverty, ignorance and retrogression. Whereas countries in Europe, America and Asia, etc have made earth-shaking and groundbreaking advancement in all spheres of Life, Most of African countries including Nigeria are yet to discover themselves. In 1979, Nigeria had a buoyant foreign reserve, 32 aircraft, 25 ships out of which 19 were brand-new, AJAOKUTA STEEL COMPANY that was 98% completed, and a functional railways system, among others. By 1999, all these things had been destroyed by successive regimes, which happens to be our biggest problem in this country. The foundation of Nigeria cannot be said to be built on rock and hence little upheavals threaten its corporate existence. The country, therefore, needs some Fundamental restructuring in order for it to have a good and solid foundation. But this is the issue we all have been talking about "Restructuring Nig...

WATER IN THE OIL THAT DRIVES NIGERIA ECONOMY

Image
When a country does the same thing and expect different results is to be referred as water in the oil that spines the air that blows its economy. The economy of any great nation is driven by 24-hour electricity. Is this the case in Nigeria, it's almost 60 years after independence and the case for electricity is no where near 24-hours in a day. the history of creation reveals that the first thing the Almighty Lord decreed was "Let the be light" and of course, there was light" Gen 1:3. With this, he was able to carry out the work of creation which he completed in six days and then rested in the seventh day. Our good Lord did not spend an eternity in creating the universe. That's the reason why our government need to set out the necessary and most important things first in their budgets so as to move this country forward, but often times what the masses need is not always what the government wants to do because of their selfish interests in power. We ar...
